Toy Safety

Rubio's is concerned for every child's health and safety. In light of the toy recalls that have taken place in 2007, we want to reassure you about the toys your children receive in our restaurants. You should know that we have taken care to insure the safety of every toy we provide in Rubio's kid's meals.

We purchase our toys at one well-established American vendor, who has stringent safety protocols in place for the production of Rubio's toy premiums. Our toys are manufactured both domestically and overseas.

All testing is completed by an independent 3rd party lab (STR) and not by the actual factory. Many factory labs are accredited labs, but philosophically we feel it is best to engage an accredited 3rd party testing facility such as STR for any and all official testing procedures. This negates potential conflicts of interest.

Concerning the ingredients of paint used on toy premiums, the raw material wet inks are tested in pre-production as well as the surface coatings in mass production.

Specifically regarding our production testing protocol (also known as intervention testing), it requires the testing lab (STR) to visit the factory to pull random samples from the actual production lines. This measure ensures that the factory cannot mix tainted product into any production run.

We hope this answers any concerns you may have about the safety of our toys at Rubio's.
