World Oceans Day

On June 8th hundreds of communities around the globe celebrated World Oceans Day — an opportunity to learn about our world ocean and our personal connection to the sea, to raise awareness about the crucial role the ocean plays in our lives, and the important ways people can help to protect our shared world ocean.

  • Each of us relies on a healthy ocean with a rich diversity of life to provide most of the oxygen we breathe, much of the food we eat, as well as medicines and other essentials that we need to survive.
  • The ocean provides endless opportunities for inspiration and recreation such as surfing, diving, snorkeling, fishing, and boating. How much would you enjoy the ocean without its great diversity of life?
  • The greater the diversity of life in the ocean the better job the ocean will do in helping maintain the planet's normal climate conditions and in adjusting to a changing climate.

With our coastal Mexico and fish taco heritage, Rubio's passion for a healthy ocean is obvious. Rubio's has introduced an eco-friendly Bottle BoxTM Salad Bowl made 100% from recycled plastic bottles in all of our restaurants to help prevent plastic, which makes up a large portion of marine debris, from reaching the ocean.
