Some of our favorite awards are these - the people's votes for best food. This year, we're delighted again to win the top spots in the San Diego Union Tribune reader's choice awards for Best Fish Tacos and Best Taco Shop. Here in San Diego, the readers love fish tacos, and they love our founder, Ralph. And they have ranked Rubio's numero uno for three years in a row.

10th Annual Rock 'N' Roll Marathon

June 30, 2007

Rubio's proudly sponsored the water station at mile 11.6 at this popular San Diego mecca for runners. Members of San Dieguito Academy's high school track team and the U.S. Marines filled out our crew of 75, and together we served water or Accelerade to just under 20,000 athletes. In addition to reaching personal fitness goals, many participants were members of Teams in Training, raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Rubio's salutes everyone who participated, especially Rubio's team members Sarah Tuttle and Kelle Johnson, who ran in the marathon!

Rubio's Fish Tacos Named "Top Stadium Food"

A 2007 Sports Illustrated feature listed the top five stadium foods across the country, and we're proud to take the top spot on that list. Writer Lang Whitaker called our fish tacos served at San Diego's Petco Park "simple and spectacular: a tortilla, a fillet of beer-battered fish, cabbage, salsa and a mysterious white sauce. The gorgeous setting and temperate climate enhance the crunchy-chewy combination." We couldn't agree more, and all we would add is "Go Padres!"

Aztec Combo Returns to San Diego

March 1, 2007

Throughout the month of March, Rubio's will donate $1 from every Aztec Combo purchased to the 2007 SDSU Month Scholarship Challenge. This Combo of one Rubio's World Famous Fish Tacosm, one crispy shrimp taco (original or our new mango), served with beans, chips and a drink tastes great while it does good.

Celebrating February with Heart

Repeating the success of the previous year, Rubio's locations throughout San Diego hosted the mobile collection units (Bloodmobiles) from the Blood Bank. Over 365 pints were collected. Rubio's partnered in the effort to encourage donors by providing free taco meals to successful donors during Bloodmobile visits at our restaurants, and free tacos to all who donated elsewhere any time in February.
