Rubio's is striving to be a better friend to the oceans and the entire planet. On June 5th, 2009, Rubio's employees dedicated an afternoon to clean up a San Diego beach. The Rubio's crew helped ease the threat to our oceans and minimize marine debris by picking up plastic bags, take-out containers, and even a rusty lobster trap. Rubio's clean-up day was a small step to emphasize our goal of helping to preserve the environment and the San Diego beaches.

As part of our All-American Moment campaign, Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill is proud to support Share Our Strength (SOS), the leading national organization working to end childhood hunger in America. Share our Strength is a network of community groups, activists and food programs to catch children at risk of hunger and surround them with nutritious food where they live, learn and play. Rubio's is donating 25 cents to SOS for each photo Rubio's fans share during the All-American Moment promotion. Visit our Facebook page to see all the photos that have been submitted. Rady Children's Hospital has been ranked as one of the top 25 children's hospitals in the country. With 13 locations throughout San Diego, they offer a broad range of services including speech, physical and occupational therapies, child guidance and child protective services. The hospital's mission statement is "to restore, sustain, and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research and advocacy." Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill is proud to be a Gold Corporate Sponsor of this organization. We have fed almost all 3500 employees to show our support of these hard-working, lifesaving individuals.

Fresh Start provides reconstructive plastic surgery and related services to children and young adults with life-altering physical deformities. All services are provided at no cost for these families who could otherwise not afford them. For years, Rubio's has been gratified to assist in this humanitarian effort, providing food during the long days of surgery for the patients' families and the volunteer staff which has grown to over 100 nurses, doctors and surgeons.

From the triathlete in training to the person just thinking about losing a few pounds, Rubio's supports the quest for health and fitness. We've drawn a following of serious athletes with our HealthMex line, and our own Ralph Rubio and the founder of Competitor, Bob Babbit created a continuing partnership based on athletes who love Rubio's food. You'll find copies of Competitor in our restaurants each month (until they disappear!), and inside these magazines, you'll find running events - and opportunities to be inspired - right where you live.

This vital organization makes a difference in so many lives by providing life-saving blood and blood products to people in critical need. San Diego Rubio's locations sponsor one month early in the year for the blood bank, hosting bloodmobile visits at our restaurants, and providing certificates for tacos and complete Rubio's meals to successful donors throughout the county. We're also delighted to join our Petco Park partners in the annual Padres Blood Drive - blood donors are treated to food from the ballpark vendors, and have the opportunity to collect autographs from players.
